CARROT Weather gives you current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, and detailed weather screens, all narrated by a snarky robot. You pick one of five personalities, ranging from straight-faced professional to an unfiltered mode full of profanity. It suits people who check the weather often and want both solid data and some entertainment. On iPhone, Premium Club subscribers can switch between data sources such as The Weather Channel, AccuWeather and Apple Weather.
Day to day, opening the app takes a second and the key numbers are right on top. You can dig into dedicated screens for wind, precipitation and other details. Extras like secret locations to hunt down, achievements, and an AR mode give it a game-like streak if you want it. You can also ignore all of that and just read the forecast.
Why we picked it: It pairs genuinely detailed weather data with a personality you can tune, and Grailr says it does not sell your location data.
Watch out for: Many of the most useful features need a subscription, including alerts, widgets, Watch complications and extra data sources. The Android version has not been updated in a long time.
