TikTok review
TikTok is a short video app where the main feed, called For You, is picked by an algorithm based on what you watch and like rather than who you follow. You can scroll through clips on cooking, sports, fashion, music and nearly anything else, watch live streams, and buy products from brands and small sellers inside the app. It suits anyone who wants quick entertainment, and people who want to make and post their own videos.
Day to day, it is simple: open the app and swipe. The feed learns your tastes quickly, which makes it easy to lose track of time. Making a video takes a few taps, with a free sound and music library, filters and effects built in. Shopping and live content are increasingly woven into the feed, so expect product promotions alongside regular clips.
Why we picked it: Few apps match how fast its feed adapts to your interests, and the creation tools are approachable for beginners.
Watch out for: The endless feed can eat hours, and the app has faced ongoing scrutiny over data handling and its availability in some countries. Screen time controls are there, but you have to set them up yourself.

What could be better

- Growing amount of shopping and promotional content in the feed
- Privacy and regulatory concerns in several countries
- Android ratings are noticeably lower than on iOS
