The Google app puts Google Search in a dedicated app instead of a browser tab. You can type, speak, hum a tune or point your camera at something, and the app tries to answer. Recent additions include AI Mode for longer, conversational questions with follow-ups, AI Overviews that summarize a topic above the usual links, and Search Live, where you talk through a question using your voice and camera. It suits anyone who already searches with Google many times a day and wants faster ways to do it.
In daily use it works as a launchpad. The home screen or lock screen widget gets you into search, Lens or AI Mode in a tap. Lens is the standout: identifying a plant, translating a sign or finding where to buy a jacket from a photo is quick and usually accurate. The Discover feed fills idle moments with news and articles based on your activity, which some people like and others switch off.
