Quick verdict
Worth installing if your circle uses it, since it makes paying each other back trivial. Just review the privacy settings and the fee rules for instant transfers.
Best for People in the US who split bills and expenses with friends who already use Venmo

Venmo review
Venmo is a peer-to-peer payments app for people in the US who regularly settle up with friends, roommates or family. You can send money, request it, and split a single request across several people with different amounts each. Around that core it has grown into a broader money app, with a Venmo debit card, a Venmo credit card, crypto buying and selling, teen accounts and business profiles for side gigs.
Day to day it is quick: find a friend, type an amount, add a note or emoji, and the money lands in their Venmo balance almost immediately. The social feed shows payments between friends, which some people enjoy and others prefer to switch off. Moving your balance to a bank is free if you wait a day or so, or faster for a fee with Instant Transfer. Ratings are very high on iOS and noticeably lower on Android.
Why we picked it: If your friends already use it, splitting rent, dinners and trips becomes nearly effortless.
Watch out for: Payment privacy settings deserve a look, instant transfers and card-funded payments carry fees, and money sent to the wrong person is hard to get back.
